2020 Season Update Re COVID-19
Good afternoon,
At this time sport organizations are not authorized to organize sport programming or activities until there is a sport sector plan approved by public health officials, national and provincial bodies as well as the municipality.
We have been closely following the Provincial Health Official, municipality’s, province’s and BC Soccer’s directives while designing an adaptive plan for return to play if a season does resume.
The PGSA Board of Directors continue to work on the following areas of modification to play and mitigation of risks while incorporating safety measures to keep participants safe. The below measures will be shared upon approval.
These include but are not limited to:
1.Assumption of Risk and Liability
2. Facility Access
3. Modified Play – includes modification of the game, rules and field of play
4. Permissive Play
5. Communication
6. Insurance Coverage – BC Soccer has recently confirmed that the insurance underwriter has provided a disease and contagion exclusion notice to include COVID-19
7. Waiver
Although we are working hard to consider all potential avenues for an engaging but safe environment, it is unknown if play will be authorized to resume this season. As BC Soccer states, we must be comfortable that all appropriate and reasonable steps are being taken to mitigate risks associated with approving and/or implementing any form of soccer activity under a Return to Play Plan.
We will try to keep everyone informed as developments occur.
Please feel free to share your thoughts by responding to this email.
Stay safe and healthy!
